Media Opportunity: Interview Dalhousie’s First Vice-Provost, Indigenous Relations – John R. Sylliboy With its commitment to deep and meaningful partnerships and relationships with Indigenous peoples across Canada - in the spirit of reconciliation, and in keeping with the goals and initiatives identified in Dalhousie’s Indigenous Strategy, Dalhousie University is pleased to welcome John R. Sylliboy into the inaugural role of Vice-Provost, Indigenous Relations. John is a proud L'nu from the Millbrook Mi'kmaw Community in Nova Scotia and a nationally recognized advocate for Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ communities. As co-founder and Executive Director of the Wabanaki Two-Spirit Alliance, John has been a powerful voice for human rights and cultural awareness across the Atlantic region and beyond. In his new role, John will lead high-impact initiatives that advance Indigenization, decolonization, and reconciliation at Dalhousie and in higher education more broadly. He brings a wealth of experience as a researcher, educator, and community leader, including his work as a PhD candidate at McGill University and as scientific director with IWK Health and the Chronic Pain Network.
