The Resource Library for the Environment and the Law collection is not organised in either the Library of Congress or the Dewey Decimal classification systems. The majority of our collection is arranged by major topic (such as Air, Water, Toxic Substances etc.), then by author (in alphabetical order) under each major topic and finally by title under the same author. Our Vertical Files are organised by author only (in alphabetical order) then by title under the same author. Our periodicals are arranged by periodical title. Our CELA publications are available online as well as in print. They are arranged by publication number.
To locate material in our Resource Library after conducting a search
on our catalog, please remember to take down the LOCATION and AUTHOR
(for books, CD-ROMs, Audio-Visual, and vertical files), the LOCATION
and TITLE (for Canadian Environmental Law Association publications and
Periodicals), or the LOCATION and PERIODICAL (periodical title), and
ISSUE for periodical articles. If a publication has multiple authors,
only the first author (Organizational or Personal) is used for
shelving or filing the publication.
